In the goods transport centre in Nuremberg/Germany, the Kühne + Nagel Company is operating two logistics centres. The stored and handled goods – many of them for the automotive and electronics industry – range from small parts up to turbochargers with a weight of two tons. In peak times, the daily handling performance amounts to up to 300 tons. Given a space of about 20,000 sqm, this challenges intralogistics planners since everything must work smoothly. This is why VETTER cranes are used at different spots inside the halls.
A slewing jib crane with two jib arms featuring a capacity of 800 kg and 200 kg and a length of 4 and 2 m assists employees in handling goods at a packing workplace. This VETTER crane is used for all parts which cannot be lifted manually. Its jib arms can be used flexibly within a radius of 180° and ensure fatigue-free and above all safe work. Two gantry crane systems of type P400 with three gantries each are used there, too, and assist in parts handling (up to 800 kg) in the prepackaging area.
The operator focuses on optimized processes and convenient work conditions enabling concentrated, safe, and efficient work. In this respect, VETTER Krantechnik makes a great contribution and does not only increase occupational safety but also efficiency.
