At the Liebherr-Mining Equipment Colmar SAS Company in Alsace, VETTER installed two supplementary ErgoLine® workplace crane systems. In the so-called unpacking area, components with a weight of up to 1,000 kg arrive while the ErgoLine® system is mainly used for unit weights of up to 250 kg. Shortly after the market launch of the new crane system, the Liebherr project managers contacted us to check the smoothly running system for suitability in our crane factory in Haiger / Germany. After extensive testing, Frédéric Varain, Project Manager at Liebherr, decided quickly: "This special type of workplace crane system enables us to accelerate material handling in the unpacking area and to considerably enhance ergonomics at the conveyor belts."
Our flexible crane system in modular design solved any problem: In order to ensure stability of the main gantry along the distance of almost 10 m, the supports and beams are made of steel. In the aluminium rails suspended in pairs, there is one aluminium ErgoLine® gantry each featuring gimbal mounting. The steel supports were positioned very close to the conveyor belts. The crane thus covers all workplaces and the floor inside and outside the workspace is free from objects to the maximum extent possible. The system features high flexibility: Thanks to its modular design and versatile components, the ErgoLine® system cannot only be extended easily but also be adapted to modified production layouts later.
But the most convincing feature of the system is its extremely smooth operation. The Liebherr staff has been thrilled immediately; they are very happy about the new cranes and give positive feedback without any exceptions. The responsible persons at Liebherr are satisfied because high acceptance by the employees means a large step towards ergonomics and occupational safety.
